Retired Teacher, Writer, Grandmother

Picture

Having lived most of my adult life in Tolland, CT, I now reside in Mystic with my husband Tom. After teaching grades K-2 for twenty-one years in Coventry, CT, the opportunity to retire to the Connecticut shore was too wonderful to ignore. And so, in 2005 we made the move.

Since it was an “early retirement” I soon found my plans to just write foiled by pesky things like rising property taxes. With an inherent love of teaching still intact, I happily became a substitute teacher in neighboring towns. This still allowed me the flexibility to visit my grandchild whenever possible. And I’ve been able to pursue my life-long passion: writing.

My book, Almost Home – How I Lost My Mother Without Losing My Mind: A Faith Journey is my first transition to being a full-fledged author.

I am blessed by friends and colleagues who share my love of writing. Some of us gather at the informal writers' group, which meets at the Mystic-Noank Library each Monday afternoon. I am also a member of the CT Authors and Publishers Association (www.aboutcapa.com) and handle the publicity for monthly meetings for our local branch: the South East chapter of CAPA.
